It is important to know the source of your oils. Here are six key questions to ask of your provider.
1. Is the Latin name of the plant provided? (It is on the label of all the Be Young essential oil singles.)
2. Is the name of the country where the plant is grown available? (Again, right there on the label.)
3. Is there a statement about purity? (Yep, every Be Young essential oil is EOBBD tested, that stands for Essential Oil Botanically and Biochemically Determined, which means that they’re tested to make sure that there are no surprises in the bottles of oil, no synthetics, no extenders, no extra oils from other plants, etc.)
4. Is the cost comparable to other brands? If it’s really cheap, it probably isn’t the real thing. (You can save a few bucks by being a member.)
5. Does it smell like you would expect? (If an essential oil smells rancid you’ve got an oil with an extender or carrier oil in it. Excluding citrus oils which have a slightly shorter shelf life, a 100% pure essential oil will be good, if stored correctly, for centuries.)
6. Is there an indication if it was grown organically or wild crafted? (Right there on the label. Folks, this is becoming more and more important as we discover more and more of the side effects of pesticides. An essential oil that has surprises in it can do more damage than good.)
Please be advised that nearly every brand available in health food stores are synthetic or adulterated. They can be extended by 50% or more with Jojoba and other carrier oils and still say 100% pure! You will never find that in a Be Young essential oil, that’s part of the guarantee.
The essential difference Be Young Essential Oils brings to the marketplace is an offering of therapeutic grade, 100% pure, organic or wild-crafted, EOBBD guaranteed essential oils that have been thoroughly researched by Dana Clay Young, an essential oil expert with over 10 years of experience. Dana Clay Young has lectured about essential oils all over the world and formulated oil blends for several companies. He has been involved in every step of the cultivation and manufacturing of essential oils, from seed selection through distillation. He has traveled the world studying with scientists, physicians, and other specialists, learning about the chemistry of essential oils and their health benefits.
Be Young is committed to the highest standard for all of their products. To know whether the oil you are using is of therapeutic quality, it is important to look for certification of purity on the label. Absence of certification may mean adulteration of an authentic essential oil. Be Young uses an exacting standard for purity known as Essential Oils Botanically and Biochemically Defined (EOBBD). In this process oils are tested by third party professionals using methods which determine exactly what components are in the oil, as well as the percentages. These tests will not only show what components are in an oil, but can also help the expert determine if synthetic components have been added.
Be Young Essential Oils provide: Therapeutic grade, 100% pure essential oils. No additives. Authentic oils which are independently EOBBD tested for purity and authenticity. Oils from organically grown and wild crafted plants. No pesticides or chemicals have been used in the cultivation of the crops. (Dana does not simply accept certificates that the crops are organically grown, he takes soil samples from the actual farm where the plants are grown and has these samples tested as well to make sure the microorganisms in the soil are what they should be. He also checks neighboring areas for other possible contamination.) Cruelty free oils. No animal testing or animal products used. Formulations by Dana Clay Young, expert in essential oils from seed to bottle.
“I would rather have one drop of essential oil from properly grown and carefully distilled plants—like those found in Be Young Essential Oils—than a store full of cheap, improperly extracted oil. Essential Oils are the best that nature can give with nothing added and nothing taken away.” Dana Clay Young
As you can tell, I have been very impressed with Dana's Be Young Essential Oils. He has the expertise, the resources, and connections to make sure his oils are of the utmost quality. He visits the farms where the plants are grown, he visits the distilleries, he spends the money required to test his oils. He tests them when he buys them from the farm, and he retests each of his oils once a year.
Essential oils should be labeled with the Latin name of the plant that it is made from. (Do you know what specific Lavender plant was used to make your Lavender oil, and, for that matter, if that is the best kind of lavender?) If the blue tansy used in your essential oil was not grown at the proper altitude, or has certain additives used in processing, as some do, extended use of this oil can cause a toxic build up in the blood stream.
Check to see if you are getting 100% essential oil or if carrier oils of one kind or another have been added. If they feel oily or if they are not instantly being absorbed, they may not be the quality you are looking for. Smell the oil, one nostril at a time. If you feel a twinge over the right eye, it is likely there has been a chemical or solvent added. If you feel a twinge over the left eye, it probably wasn't distilled properly.
